The OSG 404-0469 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, this tool delivers high rigidity and wear resistance at small diameters. The 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) cutting diameter and 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) length of cut make it well suited for fine detail work, slot milling, and profiling in tight geometries. Four flutes with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix provide efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The 1/8 inch shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders common in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is used in precision machining environments where small-diameter cutting tools are required. Typical applications include slotting, peripheral milling, and contour work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding flexibility to the machining operation. It is sized for use in CNC vertical machining centers, toolroom mills, and precision manual equipment. Machinists working on mold components, small mechanical parts, or fine detail features will find this tool appropriate for the task.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with 1/8 inch collet chucks or compatible tool holders; part of the OSG Series 404 regular-length square end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop-standard tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention system per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. At small diameters, tool runout has a significant impact on tool life and surface finish, so verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting.
