The OSG 403-2656 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting and machining applications. With a 0.2656 inch (17/64 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.75 inch length of cut, and a 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) shank diameter, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The three-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Overall length is 2.5 inches. The bright, uncoated finish makes it suitable for dry cutting or use with standard cutting fluids.
This end mill fits general-purpose milling tasks in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The regular-length profile and center-cutting capability allow it to be used for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual mill setups. It is well suited for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations where dimensional accuracy is required. Machinists and CNC operators working with steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials will find this a practical shop tool. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as a standard replacement or production end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) round shank. Part of the OSG Series 403 regular-length square end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder rated for the 0.3125 inch shank diameter and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
