The OSG 402-625008 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling operations. It features a 0.625-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3.5-inch overall length with a matching 0.625-inch shank diameter. The two-flute, spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating provides enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance. Micrograin carbide construction supports demanding applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual milling setups.
This end mill fits standard milling applications requiring a regular-length, center-cutting tool in the 5/8-inch diameter class. The centercutting design allows plunge entry into workpieces, adding flexibility for slotting, profiling, and pocket-milling operations. The Series 402 designation places it within OSG's standard square-end carbide line. It is suited for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and CNC routers where a 5/8-inch collet or end mill holder is used.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool for milling setups requiring a 5/8-inch square end mill with a 5/8-inch shank. Compatible with any machine tool using a standard 5/8-inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended engagement depth to minimize runout and prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
