The OSG 402-281211 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. It features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch shank diameter with a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The tool carries a TiAlN finish that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened material applications. Two spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting geometry allows plunge milling in addition to standard peripheral and slot milling. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians operating CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The 402-281211 is suited for slot milling, profiling, and light pocket milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The regular-length body and right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration make it a standard-fit tool for general-purpose horizontal and vertical milling setups. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention in demanding cuts. It is a single-end tool from OSG Series 402, typically used in production machining, tool and die work, and precision fabrication shops.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in standard CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual milling machines that accept a 5/16 inch shank diameter toolholder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or toolholder. Verify the shank is fully seated and the collet is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if re-run with damaged geometry.
