The OSG 402-2656-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 0.2656-inch mill diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 2-flute helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance suited for both roughing and finishing passes. The uncoated bright finish and straight cylindrical 0.3125-inch shank make it straightforward to chuck in standard toolholders. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
The 402-2656-BN is rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With a 2.5-inch overall length and a standard-length classification, it fits typical production and job-shop environments where a compact, general-purpose ball end mill is needed for contouring, profiling, and slot milling. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups.
Designed as a standard replacement or production end mill in the OSG 402BN series, compatible with any toolholder or collet accepting a 0.3125-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard material workpieces per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool crib technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before inserting the shank. Tighten the collet or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using calibrated torque equipment. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish.
