The OSG 402-2031-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of metalworking applications. With a 0.2031-inch mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length, this single-end tool is built on OSG's 402BN series platform using micrograin carbide for consistent edge integrity. The 30-degree medium helix and right-hand flute direction support efficient chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing passes. It ships uncoated (bright finish), making it suitable for applications where coating compatibility is a factor.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling operations where a small-diameter ball profile is required. The 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Applicable workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The standard-length geometry makes it a practical choice for general-purpose contouring, profiling, and 3D surface work in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a standard-length replacement or direct-use tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece material classifications include P, M, K, N, S, and H per ISO material group designations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Verify collet or holder runout before engaging a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended clamping torque specifications for the collet nut size in use.
