The OSG 402-046911 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in tight geometries. With a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) cutting diameter and a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work where rigidity and edge retention matter. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. A 30-degree spiral helix with right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. Micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and wear resistance at the cutting edge. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is suited for small-part CNC milling, engraving, and precision slotting operations where a standard-size tool cannot reach or fit. The 1/8 inch shank diameter makes it compatible with common collet systems found on vertical machining centers and benchtop CNC mills. The 1-1/2 inch overall length keeps the tool compact and stiff, reducing deflection during light-to-moderate cuts in aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and similar materials. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for Series 402 square end mills with a 1/8 inch shank diameter. Fits standard ER and similar collet systems commonly used on vertical machining centers and CNC routers.
Installation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the minimum insertion depth required by the collet manufacturer to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the collet and collet nut for wear or contamination before tightening, as debris can cause runout that damages small-diameter end mills rapidly.
