The OSG 402-019711 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.0197-inch (0.5 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.0591-inch (1.5 mm) length of cut, this tool is built for micro-scale machining where dimensional accuracy is critical. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding materials. It features a 30-degree helix angle with a right-hand spiral flute and right-hand cut geometry. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for detail work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard tooling cannot reach the required feature size.
This end mill fits into conventional CNC machining centers and manual mills using a 0.1181-inch (3.00 mm) shank diameter. The Series 402 designation places it within OSG's micrograin carbide line, suited for high-speed finishing and slotting operations in small-feature work. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge as well as profile cut. Typical applications include mold cavity detail work, medical component machining, and aerospace part finishing where micro-end mills are the specified tooling class.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use micro end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3.00 mm (0.1181-inch) shank diameter collet or toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a precision collet or shrink-fit holder appropriate for the 0.1181-inch shank to minimize runout at this diameter. At micro-diameters, even small amounts of runout significantly reduce tool life and dimensional accuracy, so holder condition and cleanliness are critical before chucking.
