The OSG 36900811 is a solid carbide ball end mill from OSG's Series 3690 Exocarb WXL line, designed for high-performance milling in hard and difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 0.0625-inch mill diameter with a matching 0.0625-inch length of cut, a 2-flute helical geometry, and a 30-degree medium helix angle. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate is finished with OSG's proprietary WXL PVD coating, which is engineered for rigidity and tool life in hard milling applications. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration suits both roughing and finishing operations. Shank diameter is 0.25 inches with an h6 tolerance for precise toolholder fit. Overall length is 3 inches.
This end mill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, with secondary suitability for non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium. The extended-reach design, with a neck length of 0.75 inches, a neck diameter of 0.0610 inches, and a reach length of 0.8125 inches, makes it well suited for deep-cavity and hard-to-access milling applications. It is used in CNC machining centers for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and precision part production where small-diameter tooling must maintain rigidity at depth.
Designed for use in CNC machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Compatible with standard 1/4-inch straight-shank toolholders meeting h6 shank tolerance requirements.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder before tightening. Verify runout at the cutting tip before beginning a program, as small-diameter extended-reach end mills are sensitive to even minor toolholder misalignment. Follow shop-floor speeds and feeds charts for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
