The OSG 36900711 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding material applications. Part of the OSG Series 3690 Exocarb WXL line, it features a 0.0625-inch mill diameter with a matching 0.0625-inch length of cut, a 2.5-inch overall length, and a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The two-flute, right-hand cutting geometry runs a 30-degree medium helix for effective chip evacuation. A proprietary WXL PVD coating applied over an ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate gives this tool its hardness and wear resistance. It is a single-end, extended-reach design suited for high-precision roughing and finishing passes in tight geometries.
This end mill is built for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, with secondary capability in non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The extended reach configuration, with a 0.625-inch reach length and a 0.5625-inch neck length, allows access to deep pockets and recessed features that standard-length tools cannot reach. The 0.0610-inch neck diameter provides clearance relief behind the cutting zone. It is well-suited for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and precision part production where tight tolerances and hard material removal are routine requirements.
The OSG 36900711 is part of the Series 3690 Exocarb WXL line and is designed for use in CNC milling applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for consistent fit in standard 0.25-inch tool holders and collets.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or collet is secure before mounting or removing the end mill. Use a collet or tool holder rated for the 0.25-inch shank diameter and verify runout before beginning a cut. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery; external coolant or air blast should be used to manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone.
