The OSG 36702811 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on OSG's Series 3670 platform, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.045 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner geometry. The WXL PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation, making this tool well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes. It is a single-end, centercutting design with 4 right-hand helical flutes at a medium 30-degree helix and a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool in standard toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The micrograin carbide substrate and WXL coating combination supports aggressive feed rates while maintaining surface finish quality. It is applicable in job shops, production machining, and tool rooms running general milling operations where corner radius geometry is specified. The 3 inch overall length and normal pitch configuration make it compatible with standard toolholder setups without requiring extended-reach adapters.
Designed for use with standard toolholders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, H). Mill diameter tolerance is 0.0000 to -0.0008 inches; shank diameter tolerance is h6.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing the tool. Seat the 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout after installation and confirm feed and speed parameters match the workpiece material and depth of cut before beginning a cycle.
