The OSG 36040411 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built on OSG Series 3604, it features a 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch) cutting diameter, a 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle, and a WXL finish coating designed to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention required for tight-tolerance work. This is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of plunge cuts as well as peripheral milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations.
The 36040411 is suited for small-feature machining where a fine diameter and rigid shank are critical. With a 3/8 inch length of cut (LOC) and a 1/8 inch shank diameter, it fits standard 1/8 inch collets and tool holders commonly found in high-speed spindle setups. The 1-1/2 inch overall length keeps the tool stiff and minimizes deflection during aggressive passes. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard CNC spindle rotation. Typical applications include detailed pocket milling, contour finishing, and slotting in aluminum, steel, stainless, and similar materials where a small-diameter end mill is required.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch collets and end mill holders. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with appropriate toolholding systems. Part of OSG Series 3604 regular-length end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet is torqued to the tool holder manufacturer's specification using a calibrated torque wrench. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should never be used if edge chipping is present.
