The OSG 34600908 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting right-hand metric threads in a wide range of ferrous materials. Built from High-Speed Steel-E (HSSE) with a V-coating finish, it delivers extended tool life and resistance to wear when threading hardened steel, stainless steel, and carbon steels. The plug chamfer provides a gradual cutting action suited to through-hole applications. At 100 mm overall length with an 18 mm thread length and a D6 thread limit, this tap holds tight tolerance control essential for production and maintenance threading operations. Coolant-through design supports chip evacuation in deeper holes.
This tap is appropriate for use in machine tapping operations on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping heads across residential shop, commercial fabrication, and industrial maintenance environments. It handles M10x1.50 metric through-hole threading in hardened steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and stainless steel workpieces. The three-flute spiral point configuration pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it well suited to through-hole production work where chip packing is a concern. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics are the typical installers.
Designed for through-hole tapping applications requiring M10x1.50 metric threads in hardened steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and stainless steel. Compatible with standard machine tapping setups that accept a 9.6774 mm shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance mechanic using appropriate tapping fluid or coolant for the workpiece material. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before engaging the tap to prevent tap breakage. Power down all equipment before changing or inspecting tooling. Do not force a worn or damaged tap — inspect the cutting edges before each use.
