The OSG 3334348 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 6.50 mm diameter with a flat-bottom, 180-degree point geometry designed to produce flat-bottomed holes without the need for a spotting drill. The EgiAs multi-layer coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. At 70.00 mm overall length (2.7559 inches) with a 30.00 mm flute length, this short-length drill offers increased rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length alternatives. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC or manual drilling equipment.
This drill bit is suited for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials where a flat-bottom hole or close-tolerance bore is required. The screw machine length format is common in turret lathes, CNC machining centers, and drill presses where short tool overhang improves accuracy and tool life. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation in these materials. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with through-spindle coolant setups for deep or high-speed applications.
Designed for use in machining applications targeting steel, cast iron, and hardened materials; fits standard straight-shank tool holders accepting an 8.00 mm (0.3150 inch) shank diameter. Part of the OSG Series 5720 product line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using appropriate collet chucks or drill chucks rated for the 8.00 mm straight shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the bit. When using coolant-through capability, verify that spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
