The OSG 3334318 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. Measuring 0.1654 inches (4.20mm) in diameter with an overall length of 2.3622 inches, this bit features a 180-degree flat drill point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.2362 inches (6.00mm) in diameter for positive chuck retention. Coolant-through capability supports high-cycle production environments. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators working in metal fabrication and production drilling applications.
The OSG 3334318 is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in production and maintenance machining environments. Its screw machine (stub) length geometry provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, making it well-suited for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses where minimal deflection is critical. The Series 5720 designation indicates a high-performance carbide platform with an EgiAs coating applied to the drill tip for extended tool life in harder workpiece materials. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute type support consistent chip clearing in through-hole and blind-hole applications.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with any machine tool chuck or collet system accepting a 0.2362-inch (6.00mm) straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 5720 high-performance carbide drill platform.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are fully stopped and de-energized before loading or removing the bit. Solid carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper support, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Verify coolant-through compatibility with your machine tool before use, and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a production run.
