The OSG 3330660 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals. It measures 0.2598 inches (6.60 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 70.00 mm and a flute length of 30.00 mm. The 180-degree drill point angle delivers a flat-entry cut suited for flat-bottomed hole applications, while the web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. Two spiral flutes with a right-hand cutting direction handle chip removal efficiently. This bit belongs to OSG Series 5700 and is intended for installation by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in precision metal fabrication environments.
The OSG 3330660 is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in screw machine operations and general production drilling where short, rigid tooling is required. The screw machine length geometry provides greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, making it appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are critical. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio is optimized for shallow-hole applications where rapid chip clearance is a priority.
Designed for use with steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm shank. Drill bit diameter falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch (6.50 to 8.00 mm) size range of OSG Series 5700.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tool handling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before use and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage from side-loading, cross-drilling, or interrupted cuts at improper feed rates. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle fully before changing or inspecting the bit.
