The OSG 3182049 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.1929-inch (4.9 mm) mill diameter and a 0.3858-inch (9.8 mm) length of cut, making it suited for tight-tolerance work in smaller profiles. The 0.2362-inch (6.0 mm) shank diameter provides consistent tool holding in standard collets and end mill holders. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with OSG WXL coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and run this end mill in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is configured as a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a right-hand flute direction and a 30-degree helix angle. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. The 2-flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation, which is particularly useful when milling softer metals or requiring aggressive material removal in shallow-to-moderate depth passes. The overall length of 50 mm (approximately 1.969 inches) keeps the tool compact for reduced deflection. It falls within the OSG Series 3721 product line and is appropriate for use in precision job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in OSG Series 3721 with a 0.2362-inch shank diameter, compatible with standard ER and end mill collet systems that accept 6.0 mm or equivalent shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Use a calibrated torque wrench when tightening collet nuts to manufacturer-specified values for the holder type in use. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, and select feeds and speeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
