The OSG 3132812 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and hardened workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required when cutting steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.0709 inches (1.80 mm), with a length of cut of 0.1063 inches (2.70 mm) and a shank diameter of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm). The WXL coating provides enhanced lubricity and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. With a 30-degree helix angle and two flutes, this end mill balances chip evacuation and cutting stability in tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is suited for small-diameter, precision milling operations in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments. Its extended reach design, with a reach length of 12.00 mm and an overall length of 45.00 mm, makes it appropriate for slots, pockets, and contour work where clearance is needed beyond the cutting zone. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hardened materials, making it a strong fit for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision metalworking.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 0.1575 inch (4.00 mm) shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), cast iron (K), and hardened materials (H) per ISO material classification. Part of the OSG Series 3791 end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder, ensuring full engagement without exceeding the reach length to prevent deflection. Verify spindle runout before operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup and storage.
