The OSG 3131510 is a miniature square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed when cutting at very small diameters. The cutting diameter measures 0.0197 inches (0.5 mm), with a length of cut of 0.0276 inches (0.7 mm) and a shank diameter of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm). The WXL coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation at this micro scale, and the centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for high-precision CNC milling operations where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The extended reach design and 10 mm reach length make it appropriate for slots, pockets, and contour work in areas with limited clearance. Typical applications include mold and die work, medical component machining, and aerospace detail parts where small-diameter tooling is standard. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers on vertical machining centers and CNC mills equipped for micro tooling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow conventional milling orientation.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for micro-diameter tooling. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and free of runout before securing the shank to the specified clamping torque for the holder type in use. At this diameter, excessive runout or improper seating will cause immediate tool failure. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters appropriate for the workpiece material before initiating a cut.
