The OSG 3111616 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and hard-material applications. It carries a 1.50 mm (0.0591 inches) mill diameter, a 2-flute right-hand helical geometry, and a 30-degree helix angle that balances chip evacuation with cutting stability. The WXL physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating reduces friction and extends tool life when cutting pre-hardened and hardened steels. Ultra-fine micrograin carbide construction supports rigidity in extended-reach setups. The 0.75 mm nose radius enables precise ball-form profiling. The 3111616 is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Its extended-reach design with a 14.80 mm neck length and 1.45 mm neck diameter allows access to deep pockets and complex contours where standard-length tools cannot reach. The 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits common collet systems used in precision CNC machining centers. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than reindexed. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom professionals. Secure the 4.00 mm shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the shank and collet bore for contamination or wear before seating. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended depth-of-cut or feed parameters for the target workpiece hardness.
