The OSG 3111580 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. It features a 1.50 mm (0.0591 inches) mill diameter, a 2-flute right-hand helical configuration, and a 30-degree helix angle. The WXL PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation during aggressive cutting cycles. Built from ultra-fine micrograin carbide, this tool maintains edge integrity in demanding roughing and finishing operations. A licensed HVAC tech or machinist working in tight-tolerance environments will find this tool suited for precision profiling passes.
This end mill is part of OSG Series 3790, marketed as the Exocarb WXL High Performance line for pre-hardened and hardened steels. Its extended-reach geometry, with an 8.00 mm reach length and a 1.45 mm neck diameter, makes it well suited for cavity work and deep-pocket profiling where tool clearance is limited. The single-end design and straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance allow secure clamping in standard collet or end-mill holders. It handles both roughing and finishing material removal strategies and is also rated for secondary use on non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, with secondary compatibility for non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL High Performance line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout after clamping, as extended-reach tools are more sensitive to collet concentricity. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG cutting data recommendations for feed rate and spindle speed when engaging hardened workpiece materials.
