The OSG 3111120 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. It features a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inches) mill diameter with a 2-flute, right-hand helical configuration and a 30-degree helix angle. The WXL PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat reduction during cutting. With an overall length of 55.00 mm and a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance, this end mill suits precision work in CNC machining centers where tight runout control is required. It is rated for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
The OSG 3111120 belongs to the Series 3790 Exocarb WXL line, designed specifically for milling pre-hardened and hardened steels as well as difficult alloys. Its extended-reach geometry, with a 20.00 mm reach length and a 0.95 mm neck diameter, allows access to deep cavities and narrow pockets without interference. The 0.50 mm nose radius and 0.80 mm length of cut make it appropriate for fine detail passes and semi-finishing work in die and mold applications. Compatible workpiece materials also include non-ferrous metals and superalloys, including titanium. This is a single-end, metric-dimensioned tool sold individually.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with 4.00 mm collets or end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys and titanium (ISO codes N, S).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use a properly sized collet or hydraulic chuck matched to the 4.00 mm shank diameter to ensure concentricity and minimize runout. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating grade. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; carbide tools are brittle and should be handled carefully to avoid chipping.
