The OSG 3111100 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and hard material applications. With a 0.0394 inch (1.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.0315 inch (0.80 mm) length of cut, this tool is built for precision work in tight geometries and fine features. The WXL PVD coating enhances wear resistance and thermal stability, making it suitable for cutting pre-hardened and hardened steels. Two helical right-hand flutes and a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing passes. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate supports edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard material, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, and titanium. The extended reach configuration, combined with a 0.95 mm neck diameter and a 9.20 mm neck length, allows access to features with deeper wall clearance requirements. It is a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical 4.00 mm shank held to h6 tolerance, making it compatible with standard collet and shrink-fit toolholding systems. Machinists and CNC programmers working with hardened die and mold materials will find this part appropriate for their finishing and semi-finishing operations. It is part of OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL High Performance End Mills.
Designed for use with standard 4.00 mm collet, shrink-fit, or hydraulic toolholding systems on CNC machining centers. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, and H (steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard material) and secondary materials coded N and S (non-ferrous metal, superalloys, and titanium). Part of OSG Series 3790.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Ensure the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as tool diameter at 1.00 mm is sensitive to even minor concentricity errors. Follow machine manufacturer and OSG Series 3790 cutting data recommendations for spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut appropriate to workpiece hardness.
