The OSG 3111060 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. Part of OSG's Series 3790 Exocarb WXL line, it features a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inches) mill diameter with a 0.80 mm (0.0315 inches) length of cut and a 30-degree medium helix angle. The WXL PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance suited for demanding ferrous and hard-material applications. The ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate supports stable cutting performance in both roughing and finishing operations. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in precision manufacturing environments.
The 3111060 is built for extended-reach applications requiring access to tight geometries or deep cavities. With a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, 45.00 mm overall length, 6.00 mm reach length, and a reduced 0.95 mm neck diameter, it is suited for micro-milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. It is a single-end tool with no coolant-through capability and no chipbreaker.
Designed for use in standard straight-bore tool holders accepting a 4.00 mm shank with h6 tolerance. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO codes N, S).
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians familiar with micro-diameter tooling. Ensure the tool holder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerances. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the specified reach length when engaging the workpiece, as overextension beyond the neck geometry can cause tool deflection or breakage.
