The OSG 3111050 is a single-end ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including pre-hardened and hardened steels. Built from ultra fine micrograin solid carbide, it measures 0.0394 inches (1.00 mm) in cutting diameter with a 0.0315-inch (0.80 mm) length of cut and a 0.50 mm nose radius. The WXL PVD coating is applied to extend tool life and reduce wear when machining steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and hard materials. With an extended reach design, a 4.20 mm neck length, and a 0.95 mm neck diameter, this tool is suited for tight-clearance finishing and roughing passes in precision machining environments.
The OSG 3111050 fits applications in aerospace, die and mold, and precision component machining where access to deep or narrow features is required. The extended reach geometry allows the tool to reach into pockets and contours that standard-length end mills cannot access. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Secondary applications include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 30-degree medium helix angle balances cutting forces across roughing and finishing operations. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers.
Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL High Performance End Mill line, designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. UNSPSC Code: 27112803.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the toolholder is clean and properly torqued before seating the straight-cylindrical shank. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece, as the small cutting diameter makes this tool sensitive to runout. Consult OSG Series 3790 cutting data recommendations for appropriate feed, speed, and depth-of-cut parameters for the target workpiece material.
