The OSG 3111030 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and hard-material applications. Built to Series 3790 specifications, this single-end tool features a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.80 mm length of cut and a 0.50 mm nose radius. The WXL PVD coating is applied specifically for pre-hardened and hardened steels, providing thermal resistance and edge durability under aggressive cutting conditions. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate supports the two-flute, right-hand helical geometry at a 30-degree helix angle. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for both roughing and finishing passes in tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is suited for precision milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The extended-reach configuration, with a 3.00 mm reach length and a 0.95 mm neck diameter, allows access to deep pockets and recessed features without interference. The 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance provides a secure fit in standard collet systems. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and high-precision part production where fine surface finishes and tight dimensional tolerances are required.
The OSG 3111030 is designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with standard collet or toolholder systems accepting a 4.00 mm straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm collet bore size matches the 4.00 mm shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before use. Extended-reach tools are more sensitive to side-loading - verify depth of cut and feed rate parameters are appropriate for the neck diameter before initiating the program. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for carbide tooling handling.
