The OSG 3106400 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for demanding milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. Part of OSG's Series 3710 ExocarbWXL line, it features a 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) mill diameter with a 6.00 mm length of cut and a 70.00 mm overall length. The proprietary WXL PVD coating is engineered for rigidity and thermal resistance, making this tool effective for both roughing and finishing passes. The 2-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in tight pockets and contoured surfaces. Machinists and tooling specialists in metalworking shops are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). It also performs in secondary applications involving non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO codes N, S). The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm diameter and h6 shank tolerance fits standard collet and end mill holder setups. The ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate supports hard milling scenarios where edge stability and wear resistance are critical. Standard length configuration makes it suitable for general-purpose vertical and horizontal machining center work.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the correct collet size to secure the shank without over-clamping, which can distort the h6 shank tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for damage before each use, and discard the tool if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
