The OSG 3106100 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from ultra-fine micrograin solid carbide and finished with a proprietary WXL PVD coating, it is engineered for both roughing and finishing passes. The cutting diameter is 0.0394 inches (1.00 mm) with a length of cut of 0.0984 inches (2.50 mm), a 30-degree helix angle, and a 2-flute right-hand helical configuration. The WXL coating is formulated to support hard milling, providing rigidity and wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and tooling professionals working in job shops, precision machining centers, and die-mold operations typically specify this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 1.00 mm cutting diameter makes it appropriate for fine-feature work, micro-slot milling, and detailed contour operations on hardened or difficult-to-machine workpieces. It mounts in a straight-cylindrical shank setup with a 6 mm shank diameter, compatible with standard collet and toolholder systems used on CNC machining centers and high-speed milling machines.
The OSG 3106100 is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H), with secondary application in non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes N, S). It is part of the OSG Series 3710 Exocarb WXL end mill line.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians on vertical or horizontal machining centers. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are free of debris and runout is verified before seating the shank in the collet. At 1.00 mm cutting diameter, tool runout and setup rigidity are critical — even minor misalignment can cause premature tool breakage. Follow the machine builder and OSG application guidelines for feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut specific to the workpiece material.
