The OSG 3105120 is a single-end ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Built from ultra-fine micrograin solid carbide and finished with OSG WXL PVD coating, this tool is engineered for rigidity and consistent performance across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The cutter measures 0.0472 inches (1.20 mm) in diameter with a 0.1181-inch (3.00 mm) length of cut, a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, and a 50.00 mm overall length. The 30-degree medium helix and helical flute geometry support both roughing and finishing operations in a compact form factor suited to tight-tolerance machining.
This end mill is well-suited to precision milling work in tool-and-die, mold, aerospace, and general machining environments. Its micro diameter makes it appropriate for fine detail work and contour milling in hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. The WXL coating classification targets hard milling applications where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments will find this tool appropriate for both prototype and production runs requiring consistent performance at small diameters.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with ER or compatible collet systems accommodating a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials; secondary materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Use a properly sized collet or toolholder rated for a 4.00 mm shank and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting, as excessive runout is especially damaging at micro diameters. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine OEM guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
