The OSG 3056305 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision finishing operations on hard materials and high-hardness steels. It carries a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) mill diameter with a 1.50 mm nose radius and features an extended long-neck geometry, providing 13.90 mm of reach length with a reduced 2.85 mm neck diameter. The DUROREY PVD coating is applied to extend tool life in demanding hard-material applications. The 30-degree medium helix angle promotes chip evacuation while maintaining edge stability during fine finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This end mill is built for hard material and steel applications requiring long-reach access into deep pockets, slots, or contoured surfaces where standard-length tools cannot reach. The extended neck design allows the 3.00 mm cutting diameter to reach into confined features while the 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. The 50.00 mm overall length supports use on vertical and horizontal machining centers in both roughing and finishing operations.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining hard materials and steels as designated by workpiece material codes H and P. Part of OSG Series 8590 long-neck carbide ball end mill line.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling. Confirm collet chuck runout is within tolerance before use, as carbide tools at small diameters are sensitive to radial runout. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for speed, feed, and depth of cut when machining hard or hardened materials.
