The OSG 3056147 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-precision finishing operations on hard materials and high-hardness steels. It features a 0.0197 inch (0.50 mm) mill diameter with a 0.25 mm nose radius and a 30-degree medium helix angle. The extended-reach long neck design provides a 7.60 mm reach length and a 0.48 mm neck diameter, giving machinists the clearance needed to access deep cavities and fine features without sacrificing rigidity. The tool is finished with a PVD-applied DUROREY coating for improved wear resistance in demanding cutting applications. Installed by CNC machinists and toolroom operators working in precision mold, die, and aerospace component production.
This end mill is part of the OSG Series 8590 and is built for use in hard material and steel machining applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, combined with the helical flute geometry, support both roughing and finishing passes. The straight-cylindrical shank at 4.00 mm diameter ensures compatibility with standard collet systems. Its single-end, extended-length configuration makes it particularly well-suited for deep-cavity profiling and contouring work on CNC machining centers where access is limited.
Designed for use in CNC machining applications involving hard materials and steel workpieces. The 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard metric collet systems. Part of the OSG Series 8590 high-precision long-neck ball end mill lineup.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disengaged before loading or removing the tool. Verify collet bore size matches the 4.00 mm shank diameter before clamping. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended runout tolerance of 0.003 mm for this diameter class, as excess runout will accelerate tool wear and compromise surface finish on hard workpieces.
