The OSG 300-1772 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in general machining applications. With a 4.5 mm (0.1772 inch) diameter and a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers tight tolerances in the range of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches over nominal. It features four straight flutes with a right-hand cutting direction and a straight cylindrical shank for secure chuck mounting. The 70 mm overall length and 22 mm flute length make it well suited for shallow to medium-depth reaming passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this reamer where consistent bore finish and diameter accuracy are required.
This chucking reamer is built for general machining environments where solid carbide tooling is specified for harder workpiece materials or extended tool life compared to HSS alternatives. It fits standard drill press, CNC machining center, and manual mill setups using a collet or drill chuck. The straight shank accepts standard ER collets and drill chucks with appropriate bore clearance. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid application at the workpiece is standard practice for this tool.
Designed as a standard OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer for general machining applications requiring a 4.5 mm finished bore diameter, compatible with collet chucks and drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotational tooling and proper speeds and feeds for solid carbide. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck with no runout before operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid externally at the workpiece when reaming to reduce heat and extend tool life.
