The OSG 2941008 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 5/16-18 UNC internal threads in a wide range of ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding tapping applications. The 3-flute spiral design with a 45-degree helix angle efficiently evacuates chips up and out of the hole, making it well-suited for blind-hole threading where chip packing is a common problem. The modified bottoming chamfer allows the tap to thread closer to the bottom of a blind bore than a standard plug tap. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a thread length of 0.444 inches.
