The OSG 2917408 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC right-hand internal threads in a range of ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers extended tool life in demanding production and repair applications. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With a 45-degree helix angle and 3 right-hand flutes, the tool actively evacuates chips up and out of the hole, reducing the risk of tap breakage and recutting in tough materials.
This tap is suited for threading operations in alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, die steel, and hardened steel. It is commonly used by machinists and maintenance technicians in production shops, toolrooms, and field repair settings where 6-32 fastener threads are required in ferrous workpieces.
