The OSG 2907408 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in a wide range of ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and lubricity compared to uncoated HSS taps. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes, making it a practical choice when full thread depth is required near the base of a hole. With a 45-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute design, chips are pulled up and out of the hole during the tapping operation, reducing the risk of packing and tap breakage. The 3B class of fit produces threads within standard tolerance for most commercial and precision fastener applications.
