The OSG 28735600 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 0.06-inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life at corners. A Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) PVD coating lowers friction and resists built-up edge when cutting aluminum, copper, and similar alloys. With three flutes, a right-hand spiral configuration, and a coarse pitch chipbreaker-free profile, this end mill is suited for roughing operations where chip evacuation and surface finish both matter. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in CNC milling centers and machining centers using standard toolholders.
This end mill fits roughing applications on non-ferrous metals in both production and job-shop environments. The extended-reach geometry, with a 2.205-inch reach length and a 0.921-inch neck diameter, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring a longer overall assembly. The 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mates cleanly to collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders. Overall length is 4 inches. The stub-length-of-cut classification keeps the tool rigid during aggressive roughing passes on aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard CNC milling toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material classification is non-ferrous metal (ISO material code N), including aluminum, copper, brass, and similar alloys.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting cycle. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
