The OSG 28431000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal and hard-material applications. It features a 0.625 inch mill diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4.5 inch overall length with a matching 0.625 inch shank diameter. The three-flute configuration with a 35-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity needed for tight tolerances. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary end users for this tool.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are required. It is centercutting, making it capable of plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The DLC coating makes it well suited for non-ferrous metals, composites, and other abrasive materials where reduced tool wear is a priority. It ships as a single unit and is appropriate for both production and toolroom environments.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.625 inch straight shank via collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before installing or changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth to prevent runout. Verify spindle direction matches the right-hand cut designation before starting the machine.
