The OSG 2841600 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting internal 3/8-16 UNC threads in through-hole applications. Made from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS-E), it delivers improved wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS. The plug chamfer distributes cutting load across the first several threads, making it well suited for general-purpose tapping in production and maintenance environments. At 2.937 inches overall length with a thread length of 0.752 inches, it fits standard tap holders and CNC rigid tapping setups. The H5 thread limit and 2B class of fit produce threads within the tolerance range required for standard fastener assembly. Bright finish, no coolant-through capability.

This tap is intended for tapping through holes in a wide range of materials including low-carbon, medium-carbon, high-carbon, and alloy steels, die steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, keeping the flutes clear and reducing the risk of chip packing in through-hole work.
