The OSG 257-5006 is a solid carbide combo drill reamer designed to drill and ream in a single operation, reducing cycle time and tool changes on the machine. The 1/2 inch reamer diameter is ground to a decimal size of 0.5000 inches, providing close-tolerance hole finishing in one pass. With a 3.91 inch flute length and a 6 inch overall length, this tool handles moderate-depth bores while maintaining rigidity. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating compatibility with the workpiece material is a concern. A cylindrical shank at 0.5625 inches in diameter provides secure clamping in standard tool holders. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling or drilling setups.
This combo drill reamer is suited for metalworking applications in job shops, production machining environments, and toolrooms where precise hole sizing is required without a secondary reaming step. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. Solid carbide construction makes it a strong choice for hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and similar materials where high-speed steel tooling lacks sufficient wear resistance. It is typically selected when hole tolerance and surface finish requirements demand better accuracy than a drill alone can deliver.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use combo drill reamer for standard 1/2 inch shank toolholders and collet chucks used in CNC machining centers and conventional drilling equipment.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or placed in an E-stop state before installing or removing the tool from the holder. Verify shank runout and holder cleanliness before clamping to maintain tolerance integrity. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant application appropriate to the workpiece material.
