The OSG 2517801 is a spiral point tap designed for threading 8-32 UNC internal threads in production and maintenance machining applications. Built from vanadium high-speed steel (HSS-E) with a steam oxide coating, it provides improved lubricity and corrosion resistance compared to uncoated taps. The plug chamfer distributes cutting load across the leading threads, making it well suited for through-hole tapping. With a 2B class of fit and H2 thread limit, it produces threads within standard commercial tolerance for most fastener applications. Overall length is 2.48 inches and thread length is 0.75 inches, keeping it compact for close-quarter work.
