The OSG 2393605 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting M20x2.50 metric coarse internal threads in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. It features 4 right-hand flutes with a 45-degree helix angle that evacuates chips upward out of the hole, making it well-suited for blind-hole tapping operations. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind bore. Built from vanadium high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap delivers extended wear resistance and reduced friction across demanding production environments. Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates and improved tool life when used with appropriate toolholding.
This tap is intended for use in machining centers, CNC lathes, and manual tapping setups where M20x2.50 metric coarse threads are required. It is rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. The 6H class of fit produces standard-tolerance threads consistent with metric fastener and component assembly requirements. Machinists and toolroom professionals handling production threading in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance operations will find this tap appropriate for both rigid and floating tap holders.
Designed for use in applications requiring M20x2.50 metric coarse right-hand threads. Rated for alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpiece materials. Compatible with standard tap holders and tooling designed for a 16.568 mm shank diameter.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians using CNC machining centers, tapping machines, or manual setups with appropriate torque control. Ensure the tap holder is correctly sized for the shank diameter and that coolant supply is active when using the through-coolant feature. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against material-specific cutting data before operation. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace when thread quality degrades.
