The OSG 2391805 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading M10x1.50 metric coarse threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from vanadium high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap delivers increased wear resistance and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS taps. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes, making it well suited for tight-tolerance machined parts. With a 45-degree helix angle and three flutes, the tool evacuates chips efficiently in the materials it is rated for. Overall length is 100 mm, and the shank diameter is 9.6774 mm (0.3810 inches).
This tap is intended for use in machine shop, production, and maintenance environments where M10x1.50 metric coarse internal threads are required. It is appropriate for blind-hole and near-bottom threading applications in alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, die steel, and hardened steel. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed CNC tapping cycles as well as conventional rigid tapping on machining centers, lathes, and drill presses with appropriate tap holders.
Rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. Designed for M10x1.50 metric coarse blind-hole threading applications requiring a 6H class of fit.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians using a rigid or floating tap holder matched to the shank diameter. Before use, confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tap size per the tool manufacturer guidelines. Use cutting fluid or coolant suited to the workpiece material to protect the TiN coating and extend tool life. Do not reverse the tap until the thread pass is complete in a blind hole to avoid chip packing and tap breakage.
