The OSG 22618 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed for cutting internal M5x0.80 metric coarse threads in a variety of metals. With three flutes and a bottoming chamfer, it threads holes close to the bottom of a blind bore where plug or taper taps cannot reach. The tap is manufactured from high-speed steel and finished with an oxide coating that reduces friction and provides corrosion resistance during cutting operations. It has an overall length of 60 millimeters, a thread length of 16 millimeters, and a shank diameter of 5.5 millimeters. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians use this tap for precision metric thread work.

The OSG 22618 is suited for tapping aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. Its straight flute geometry makes it appropriate for through-holes and short blind holes where chip evacuation is managed manually or with cutting fluid.
