The OSG 220-3438 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit with an 11/32-inch (0.3438-inch) diameter and a 118-degree web-thinned point. Built from solid carbide with a bright/uncoated finish, it delivers consistent performance in general-purpose drilling applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the straight-cylindrical shank seats reliably in standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders. With an overall length of approximately 3.999 inches (101.60 mm) and a flute length of 2.500 inches (63.50 mm), this bit is sized for the reach and rigidity typical of jobber-series tooling.
The 220-3438 is well suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, self-centering operations, and standard through-hole work. Its Series 220D construction targets general-purpose metal-cutting environments, making it a practical choice for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication operations where a reliable carbide bit is needed across mixed-material workloads. The 2-flute, regular spiral configuration handles both ferrous and non-ferrous stock without requiring coolant-through tooling.
Rated for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials (material codes P, M, K, N). Designed for use in blind hole, cross-hole, drilling, and self-centering tool applications as part of the OSG Series 220D general-purpose carbide drill line.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in drill presses, machining centers, and CNC lathes. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the tool holder manufacturer's specification before operation. Coolant-through is not supported on this model; apply external flood or mist coolant as required by the workpiece material and cutting parameters. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to damage from improper handling or interrupted cuts.
