The OSG 220-2812 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 9/32 inches (0.2812 inches) in diameter with a 3-1/2 inch overall length and a 2-1/8 inch flute length. The 118-degree point angle is a general-purpose geometry suited to a wide range of workpiece materials. The bright uncoated finish maintains dimensional accuracy and suits applications where coating buildup is not acceptable. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves self-centering performance at entry. This bit is part of the OSG 220D series and is sold individually.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is appropriate for blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, through-hole drilling, and self-centering applications. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools. It is a general-purpose tool used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in shop or field environments.

This bit is intended for installation by machinists or trained technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or CNC spindle with an appropriate chuck or collet system. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or alloy steel. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from interrupted cuts or improper feeds and speeds.
