The OSG 220-2570 is a jobber length drill bit in letter size F (0.2570 inch / 6.53 mm) made from solid carbide. It is part of the OSG Series 220D and features a 118-degree web-thinned point, a regular spiral flute, and a straight-cylindrical shank. With an overall length of 3.25 inches and a 2-inch flute length, this bit is sized for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. The bright, uncoated finish suits standard drilling conditions. It is sold individually and is installed by machinists, tool and die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, lathes, and CNC equipment.
This bit is designed for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering applications in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The web-thinned point reduces thrust requirements and improves centering on entry, making it well suited for precision hole work in production and job shop environments. The tapered web configuration supports chip evacuation in standard spiral-flute drilling operations.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 6.53 mm straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with workpiece material codes P, M, K, and N as defined by the OSG Series 220D classification.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists and maintenance technicians operating drill presses, milling machines, lathes, or CNC equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to the manufacturer-recommended holding depth to prevent runout. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine-specific operating procedures when selecting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
