The OSG 220-2031 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 13/64 inch (0.2031 inch) diameter with a 118-degree drill point angle and a web-thinned point geometry that reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. The spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation, and the bright uncoated finish makes it suitable for use with or without coolant across a broad range of workpiece materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-3/4 inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length applications. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, the 220-2031 is a general-purpose bit built for production and maintenance drilling.
The OSG 220-2031 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters, making it practical for bench drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual mills. It is part of the OSG Series 220D, a general-purpose carbide jobber line intended for shops that require consistent dimensional accuracy on a wide range of base metals.
The OSG 220-2031 is compatible with workpiece materials coded P, M, K, and N, covering steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is designed for tool applications including blind hole, cross hole, through drilling, and self-centering operations.
Machining professionals should secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation. Ensure the spindle is stopped and the machine is powered down before bit changes. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in applications with excessive runout or loosely secured workpieces, as this can cause chipping or fracture. Follow shop-standard feeds and speeds for the workpiece material being drilled.
