It features a 118-degree web-thinned point, a bright uncoated finish, and a straight-cylindrical shank. The two-flute spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation during general-purpose drilling operations. With an overall length of 3 inches and a flute length of 1.75 inches, this bit suits production and maintenance drilling in metalworking environments. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics working with drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools.
This bit is built for drilling into a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering operations. The web-thinned point reduces thrust requirements and improves self-centering performance, making it effective for tight-tolerance work in both job-shop and production settings. Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible chuck or collet to the manufacturer-specified holding depth to prevent runout. Solid carbide bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts beyond designed application, or using the bit as a reamer, as this can cause chipping or fracture.
