The OSG 220-1968 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built to Series 220D specifications, it features a 5.00 mm diameter, a 118-degree web-thinned point angle, and a bright uncoated finish. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 76.00 mm overall length with a 44.00 mm flute length, this drill is suited for general-purpose work in production and maintenance machining environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This drill is rated for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Typical tool applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering operations. The tapered web configuration and web-thinned point reduce thrust requirements and improve centering accuracy, making it practical for both CNC machining centers and manual drill presses in job shop and production settings.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use across steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces per ISO material codes P, M, K, and N. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 5.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with drill press or CNC machining center operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts at high feed rates, or use in unstable setups that can cause chipping or breakage. No coolant-through capability is present on this drill; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material and cutting parameters.
