The OSG 220-1772 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from solid carbide, it delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a versatile cutting geometry suited to most general-purpose drilling applications. At 70.00 mm overall length with a 41.00 mm flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length toolholders and drill chucks. The bright uncoated finish means no coating thickness to account for on tight-tolerance holes. Right-hand spiral flute with a slow spiral type helps manage chip evacuation in the materials this bit is sized for.
This drill bit is sized at 0.1772 inches in diameter, equivalent to a No. 16 wire gauge drill size, placing it in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal inch size range. It is used in machine shop, maintenance, and production drilling operations where carbide tooling is preferred for hard materials, abrasive composites, or extended tool life in repetitive drilling cycles. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 4.50 mm shank diameter seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet toolholders without adapters.
Fits standard drill chucks and collet toolholders accepting a 4.50 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Sized as a No. 16 wire gauge drill within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal inch range.
Carbide drill bits should be installed and removed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down. Ensure the chuck or collet is properly tightened to the shank before operation to prevent slippage that can chip carbide. Carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side-loading or using this bit in a handheld drill where lateral force cannot be controlled. A licensed machinist or qualified tool and die technician should verify feed rate and spindle speed settings appropriate for the workpiece material before use.
